Mid Week Status!
(Because I forgot to post it at usual time…)
Last week and the weekend was pretty busy. There were lots of things going on at work and I didn’t get a chance to write as much as I would like. Currently working on a couple of projects, one of which is a new blog post. It’s taken longer than expected to gather the necessary information for it. I will hopefully be able to get it out of the door this week.
In other news, the wife is taking it easy now and finishing up some reports. After those are done and a sufficient amount of time has been used for relaxing, we’ll be going full steam ahead with cleaning up our current den (read: storage area) and office, and then turning them into our new office and nursery. I am looking forward to getting everything set up and posting about the process.
I have already moved some of the items out of the den, but there are a few big items that need to be moved to a new home. It shouldn’t be too difficult… What I am dreading is gutting out the office, there are SO many wires in there that hook up the 3-4 computers that are usually running inside. In addition, there are 3 book shelves in there with notes probably dating back to high school. As they have a health layer of dust on them from disuse, I will give it a quick look and dump out what I can.
Quick end of weekend status, I didn’t get much of a chance to write much this week, but I managed to get a couple of posts out.
They took longer than expected and it also ended up being longer than I thought it would be. I think I need to reconsider the length and the rhythm of the posts. Currently, some are longer than others and they get posted erratically. Usually, the workflow is that I start up a draft and then I write in it here and there. Then I re-read it a couple of times before actually publishing it. That usually ends up being a couple of days later, and usually late at night… So I am going to keep it shorter in length and hopefully release a new post regularly every couple of days.
As a teaser, the next few posts might talk about Raspberry Pi, Baby Food, and a new Social Service called Pheed.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been reading a lot of blogs. There is a wealth of information out there. While some of them may be biased or true from a certain point of view, I think it it provides a unique chance to read various opinions of products and get a sense of how these products actually handle in the real world. From diapers to strollers to car seats, there is so much to read! There is so much prep that needs to happen and so much research to make sure that we are getting the best thing for our baby.
While reading all of these posts, it made me want to write too. I feel the I can provide a unique perspective as a gadget guy and someone that loves technology. So I would like to add my voice to the large and continually growing group of parent bloggers out there. Maybe, I can help the other dads out there who are reading as well.
That being said, I had some reservations about writing and publishing my thoughts and ideas on the public web. I mean, anything that has been pushed to the web stays there. Even if you take it down, its there… The internet is an elephant, it never forgets. So I had to take some time to think about how I will structure the site and what the boundaries are. While working on the technical aspect of Wired Fatherhood, I think I have come up with a good set of guidelines. I’ll probably need to tweak it every now and then…
There is one ask of you all who are reading this,
If you see me get out of line, don’t be shy and comment!
